Composition:-
Each 100 gm contains

 Metronidazole                                           20 gm
Oxytetracycline Hcl                                 23.5 gm             
Equiv.To oxytetracycline base:             20 gm 
Properties :-
Nifulin-forte is a combination of Oxytetracycline & Metronidazole :
Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic, it is active against awide range of G+ve bacteria ( coryne bacterium spp-streptococcus spp.staph spp.)& G-ve bacteria ( E.coli-salmonella-Pasteurella spp.-haemophilus spp.) mycoplasma-rickettsiae-chlamydia& some protozoa.
Metronidazole is active against most obligate anaerobes including bacteroid spp.
Fusobacterium , Clostridium spp., it acts on Trichomonas , Giardia & Entamiba- hystolytica (the trophozoit form rather than encysted form ) it also acts as bactericidal against susceptible bacteria.
The exact mechanism of action of Metronidazole is not completely understood, but it is taken up by anaerobic organisms where it is reduced to an unidentified polar compound which is believed to be responsible for antimicrobial activity by disrupting DNA& nucleic acid synthesis in the organisms.
Oxytetracycline produces its antibacterial effect by binding reversibly with bacterial 30s ribosome subunit & thereby inhibit the protein synthesis of the bacterial cell.
Indications:
Enteric and systemic infections caused by anaerobic bacteria in horses.
For treatment of Giardiasis and Trichomonisis in Dogs & Cats.
Respiratory infections due to bacterial sensitive to oxytetracycline.
Digestive infections due to bacterial sensitive to oxytetracycline.
Urogenital infections due to bacterial sensitive to oxytetracycline.
Dosage & Administration :
Nifulin-forte is given orally via drinking water.
Dogs : 2.5 gm / 10 kg.b.wt 2 times daily for 5 days.
Cats: 0.5 gm / 5 kg.b.wt 2 times daily for 10 days.
Foals : 5-6.25 gm / 50 kg.b.wt 2 times daily
Warning & Precautions:
*Not used for meat , milk and egg producing animals.
* Not used in debilitated , pregnant or nursing animals.
*Care must be taken during treatment of animals suffering from.
* Renal or hepatic impairment.
* During treatment using large dose or for long period ; weakness.
* Nausea , vomiting and diarrhea may occur.
